Urban Drinks: The Ultimate Portland Happy Hour Site

Growing up in Eugene, i always heard about this alleged "Happy Hour" where the drinks are cheap and the food even cheaper, but never experienced it til i moved up to Portland last year. It is now one of my favorite activities. Caesar salads for $2, California rolls for $3, burgers for $3, drinks for $5, amazing...

There's nothing like grabbing a drink and some grub with friends after work, talking about work, friends and lovers. Great company+ savory foods+ strong drinks+ cheap prices= Bliss.

I recently found the ultimate Happy Hour site for Portlanders called: Urban Drinks
The site was started by a bunch of friends who wanted to provide the most up-to-date info on happy hour in the Portland area. It's brilliant!

Not only does Urban Drinks list all the happy hours in town, it also breaks it up by neighborhood (Northwest, Southwest, etc...), and includes the total # of happy hours in that area...my favorite feature so far: what happy hours are happening at that moment.

So if i felt like getting a drink right now, @ 11:00 am on a Tuesday(it's 5 o'clock somewhere) it would show me exactly where and what pubs/clubs/bars/restaurants have happy hour at the moment (If you're curious, there are 10).

Additional features include: a Google map with happy hour locations, venue descriptions, reviews, and contact info.

Their main focus is Portland, but the site also covers happy hours in Columbus, OH/ Seattle, WA/ and Dallas, TX.

Ch-ch-check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Guess who's hitting up the Happy Hour tonight?! :)

(BLANK) for President!

The New Hampshire primaries are less than a month away, do you know who you're planning on voting for? Jon Stewart! just kidding... well kind of.

I've always made a conscious effort to be a well informed voter. It is our duty to vote. The only time someone shouldn't vote (in my opinion) is when they are uninformed or are voting purely based on their parents' or friends' political views and/or affiliations. I feel like a lot of people do this and it doesn't bode well with me.

On that note... You should vote, but only if you're an informed voter of course, so get edumicated and check out ABC's Vote 2008 Match-o-Matic

The "Match-o-Matic" is a quiz where you answer questions about your views on health care, immigration, the war, etc... and at the end, it tells you what Presidential candidate your views most closely align with. There's also a "Meet Candidates" tab with additional information on the candidates.

I was pretty surprised at my results, you might be with yours as well.

Youtube's a great resource too! I'm a huge fan of their CNN*Youtube debates.

Happy Voting! :)

Charge your ipod with an onion and some Gatorade

Oh man! You just found out that you have to go on a 20 minute car ride with your aunt who is not only a habitual snorter, but only listens to John Tesh's Holiday cd...and your ipod just died! You have your USB cable, but no computer handy to charge it in. What to do what to do?

Well have no fear, because the guys from Household Hacker will teach you how to charge your ipod for up to 20 minutes, using nothing but an onion, screwdriver, Gatorade and an iPod USB cable. Genius!

I don't have an ipod, but if you do and you try this let me know.
Science is cool :)

Hana’s Restaurant (Part 1): The Name

Growing up in Eugene, I was always known as "Oh! You’re Hana’s Restaurant!” For those of you that don’t know Hana’s Restaurant, I should slap you… just kidding. In 1993, my uhm mah (mom in Korean) Mia, started a Japanese/Korean/whatever she felt like cooking restaurant near the University of Oregon campus called Hana’s.

Uhm mah said she named the restaurant after me, her one and only daughter, her pride and joy ;) but decided to spell the name differently for the following reasons:

1. Hana has multiple meanings in a variety of languages:
· Korean: One
· Japanese: Flower, nose
· Other meanings: Favorite, grace, happiness

2. My Favorite reason: (If you ask her, this is exactly what she'll say)
“Hannah has too many letters, 6, too expensive when you make sign, so I spell Hannah with 4 letters: H-A-N-A, save me lots of money. Geeze, your mom is so smart, huh!”

So Hana it was.

I used to always tell my little brother Daniel that she would name her next restaurant after him, ha, yeah right. Who wants to go to a restaurant that means "God is my Judge"

What is a Palindrome?

Hi! 안녕하세요! Hola! こんにちは!
Welcome to my blog!
I'm excited to write this blog and i hope you're excited to read what I have to say.
As of right now, I plan on writing about, I guess, pretty much anything I want.
Just know that it'll pretty much be the best thing you will ever read ;)

Now, you might be asking yourself:
What in the world is a Palindrome?
A 23 sided figure? An African Beetle? A spell from Harry Potter?

Well, let me enlighten you...
A Palindrome is a word/phrase/# that you can spell the same forwards and backwards,
like my name:

Hannah= hannaH.
Cool, i know :)

Here are a few of my favorites:

Wow
Race Car
1234321
Step on no pets
Go hang a salami; I'm a lasagna hog
A link to the longest palindrome EVER

Well that's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope to see you again soon :)
